This is an example of a Griswold No 9 cast iron skillet griddle. Because these are thinly cast, they were easy to warp making them wobble and even spin. It is almost impossible to find one that sits flat. This example does have a slight wobble (while holding the handle there is slight left-right movement). The cooking surface does have some patches of etching from corrosion, these almost undetectable as you glide your fingers over a very smooth surface. Eight sheets of printer paper slipped under one side of the pan to stop movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin. Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. This item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, items may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
