Description
This beautiful Japanese Tokanabe 1940s-1952 vase features somewhat rare abstract (flowers?) motifs in black ceramic, with a matte finish and textured feel. Standing at 6 1/8 inches in height and with a width of 3 1/4 inches, this original piece from early 20th century Japan is a stunning example of art pottery production techniques. The vase is a vintage piece, manufactured most likely in the 1940s and features an impressed bottom stamp MADE IN JAPAN. From 1945 until 1952, the United States Customs Bureau mandated that all Japanese-produced items bear one of four distinct labels: "Japan", "Made in Japan", "Occupied Japan", or "Made in Occupied Japan." As such, this gorgeous vase is most likely from that period. It is thus of Japanese origin and it is an original vintage piece, not a reproduction. The vase weighs 14.5 oz. The intricate abstract design depicts what appear to be abstracted flower motifs, adding a touch of elegance to any collection. The vase appears to be in excellent condition, please review ALL images - note tiny chip on bottom edge that is really hard to see.
