They say good things sometimes come in small packages. In this instance it should be GREAT things come in small packages. Up for sale is a rare and important ceramic vase by Joseph Theodore Deck of Guebwiller, France. This vase stands a mere 3 & 3/8" tall but that only adds to how amazing it is because this entire vase is hand incised with Asian inspired stylized wave designs. Not only was Theodore Deck a very competent sculptor but he was a (maybe THE) pioneer in recreating the transparent glazes of ancient Persia and the Orient. Theodore Deck's "faience" pottery, made in the mid to late 18th century, predates work by other French ceramists (and potteries) like Gabriel Fourmaintraux, Sarreguemines, Denbac, Pierrefonds, Dalpayrat, etc. by a generation. There is an entire museum in Mr. Deck's home town of Guebwiller dedicated to his creations. This 150+ year old vase is in amazing condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The price on this vase includes free priority shipping.
