Description
Rare Metallic Lustre Vase Ipsen Vase, Denmark, Danish Skondvirke Arts & Crafts Movement 1920s Beautiful Ipsen pottery vase, Denmark, 1920s, with an unusual metallic lustre vase. The shape is a simple bottle vase, but the deep rose striated glaze with a soft gold metallic drip is spectacular. Vase is approximately 8” high, and is stamped with the PJE and crown mark, although indistinctly, and the model number 831. Excellent condition; some normal crazing and glaze misses on the base. The glaze has some minor imperfections; most are under the glaze, but there are a couple of tiny raised spots that don’t detract from the piece. This is the only Ipsen piece I have ever seen with this glaze, and it may have been a prototype. While this vase falls solidly into the Danish Arts and Crafts movement, it has a timeless presence that would be a wonderful addition to any Scandinavian art pottery collection. © 2024 Scantik.
