Description
This is a beautiful antique, rare form Weller Roma Vase. It measures 7-3/4" tall X 4-1/2" top diameter and has a pierced reticulated lace design with floral (rose) swag/garlands. It is in good antique condition but does have a small chip on the bottom edge and an inside crack which does not show on the outside (see my last two pictures). It has a crackle look craze to the body of the vase. It is marked on the bottom with the early WELLER incised mark (very faint and hard to see). It was made at Weller Pottery between 1910 and 1920. Please examine my pictures carefully as they are the best descriptors. Please ignore any of the shadows in my pictures - it was caused by my iPhone camera. Any questions, please email. Thanks! In 1872, Samuel A. Weller founded Weller Pottery in Fultonham, Ohio . Originally, his business consisted of a small cabin and one beehive kiln, and Weller produced flower pots, bowls, crocks, and vases. By 1905, Weller Pottery was the largest pottery in the country. It mass-produced art pottery until about 1920, and it produced commercial lines until the pottery closed in 1948.
