RARE Antique Artist Signed VASE D&C FRANCE Hand Ptd BLUE BIRD Delinieres Offering a beautifully hand painted antique artist signed Delinières & Co. French porcelain vase. Depicted is a swallow in flight in a steel blue sky above sweeping ocean breakers. The plumage of the bird is painted with fine delicate brushstrokes. In the background we see wisps of birds flying in the distance. This is a work of art superbly executed in poetic style. The porcelain, made in LIMOUSIN Limoges by D&C Delinières & Co. between 1893 and 1900, is of the highest quality, and the appearance of this vase conveys that. The decorating technique of applying a blue underglaze to the hand painted design and then firing it was first developed by Meissen and later used by Royal Copenhagen, but is rarely seen in Limoges hard paste porcelain. The vase is bottom stamped: D & C France in green and Limousin under a ziggurat in blue. Artist signed. Measurements: about 9" in height, 6" in diameter (at the widest point), a base width of 4" and a mouth opening of 2 1/4".
