Description
Lodge one-notch/single-notch cast iron skillet number 5 with molder's mark 5K on underside 8 inches. I restored this number 5 using a lye bath and vinegar soak and then seasoned 5x with canola oil at 475F for 1 hour. This is a Lodge from the 1930's, the Great Depression-era. Back then, iron foundries would pay their millwrights by the piece, so the millwrights would stamp their identifying mark into the mold as they made it so as to be sure they could accurately count their output. This pan has an excellent cooking surface, and is in overall good condition. Like many old iron skillets, this pan is very lightweight and has a polished smooth cooking surface. This particular pan has sand shift all the way around the "shoulder" of the skillet, but this will in no way impact performance. There is also a flea bite on the rim around 10:00, as pictured. I will ship this skillet encased in pool noodle/orthopedic foam. I am happy to answer any questions or send any additional pictures, upon request. Thanks for looking!
