Description
For auction is a nice piece of art glass made by The Union Glass Company (Kew Blas) of Somerville, Mass (1893-1927). The vase is considered a miniature cabinet form. The vase stands 4 1/16" tall and is 2 1/4" in diameter at the shoulder. The pattern is called "Pulled Feather" and the decoration and execution is just splendid. The vase displays a classic Greek or Grecian urn form. The body is a tapered swollen form on the lower half with a tall neck to receive a single stem in the upper half. The form is similar to a bottle or jug form. It has a very lovely Gold pulled feather pattern over a calcite white body. The pulled feather decoration is very similar to L.C.T. Tiffany Favrile version of pulled feathers as they are more abstract than Quezal or Steuben which were executed with precision. The inside of the vase at the mouth looking in is finished with a brilliant gold iridescence as you can see. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The vase is not signed but I have listed it sister in a Green that is signed. I bought these as a pair from a dealer who we recently lost from her estate here in New Hampshire. She always had nice things. This was part of her personal collection. William Blake an employee of The Union Glass Company of Somerville, Mass produced a range of art glass called Kew-Blas, which was an anagram of his name. He did this during his employment with them. This vase is much rarer than Kew-Blas's contemporaries of the day such as L.C.T. Favrile, Steuben Aurene, Quezal and Loetz. They only blew this type of art glass for 8 years. It rivals the quality of LCT Tiffany Favrile and is quite similar. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This vase was made circa 1907-1915. PLEASE READ BELOW I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments . Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for. They are also n ow charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges. If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
