Description

Previously painted green on the front and red on back, this circa 1930 single-notch unmarked Lodge-style no. 3 cast iron "P" skillet with heat ring was chemically stripped of 99% of the paint, is clean but not seasoned. There are ghosted areas that show where the green surface paint was that should properly clean up if using a lye bath or electrolysis to do the final cleaning before seasoning. The pan isn't warped and sits level with no spin, and is additionally stamped P on the handle, 1 or L on the back of the handle, and the old style stamped number 3 for the size. The following information came from an informed eBay viewer: "These are actually considered "P" skillets and were not made by Lodge. Since they are recast and based on a Lodge they'll measure slightly smaller than a actual Lodge. All single notch Lodge have a raised makers mark at the 6 o'clock position, not a incised number and never a P or incised number on the top handle. They are good users despite not actually being made by Lodge. It's always interesting to see these from time to time." There are several surface casting flaws that are visible in the supplied photos. There are no cracks. There is also superficial measled pitting to the cooking surface. An attractive earlier vintage Lodge-style #3 worth pursuing for your collection. Buyer pays USPS ground advantage s/h/i, with free tracking, on this 3lb. pkg. Due to across the board increases, a $2. handling fee has been added to this purchase.
